Alice Sloma Obituary

Alice Dorothy Sloma, nee Zajakala, age 90, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2012, at the McGaw Care Center of Westminster Place in Evanston after a long illness. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Vincent Sloma. Loving mother of Laurence Sloma (Lyn Persson). Preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Sloma, and her parents Bruno and Stephanie Zajakala, and her siblings, Edward Zajakala and Irene Sielski. Fond sister-in-law of Kathleen Sloma and aunt of Kathryn (Kitty), Theresa and Pamela. Longtime Chicago resident and a resident of Westminster Place since 2003. Alice was an avid traveler, enjoying visits to lands near and far. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A memorial mass will be held in Elliott Chapel, Westminster Place, 3131 Simpson Street (Golf Road), Evanston, on Monday, January 14, at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Midwest Palliative and Hospice CareCenter, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025, would be greatly appreciated.

Larry, I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Your mom was really a kind woman. I have great memories of lunch in your kitchen when we were kids with you and your mom and your sister.

John and I remember Alice so fondly. She was always such a gracious hostess when we were visiting out in Chicagoland! And we so enjoyed the amazing photos of her travels with Leonard.
