It's a testimony to how lousy a friend I am that I'm only just hearing about this. We loved Al like family. After over 20 years of friendship we lost touch for no good reason at all. I met Al when he was living in Chicago's New Town in 1970. He'd just returned from one of the many trips he took to exotic locales. I was always impressed by his adventurous nature. We played endless games of backgammon in his house in Highland Park and we visited him wherever we were in Miami. I'm really crushed and this will take some time to process. Love you Al.

I have many fond memories of our fun and raucous times
during High School. Al was a good soul. Once, while standing in front of his or my locker, he said,'we'll be old and grey before we know it.' Every ten years or so, I have remembered what he said.
I'm very sad that he is gone, especially for his family.
