Anna Poulos

1937 - 2022

Anna Poulos, nee Dalmares, passed away on Friday,October 21, 2022. Anna was born in Thana, Tripoli, Arcadia, Greece, on December 11, 1937. Beloved wife for 60 years to Themistocles "Tom" Poulos. Loving mother of Hariklea "Harriet" Poulos and Christina (Manousos) Kastrinakis. Devoted and cherished "Yiayia" to Joanna (Theodore) Tsekouras, Themistocles, Spyridon, and the late Nectarios. Loving daughter to the late Demetrios Dalmares and Christina (nee Paraskevopoulos). She was preceded in death by her sisters, Georgia Dalmares of Thana Tripoli, Greece, Panagiota Giannakoulias (late Giannis) of Alea Tegea, Greece, and Maria Giannos (late Giannis) of San Diego, CA. She is survived by her two brothers, Nicholas (Anna) Dalmares and George Dalmares, both of Orland Park, IL, and her sister Eleni Komboholis (late Vasilios), of Tripoli, Arcadia, Greece. Cousin and aunt to many, both in America and Greece. Godmother to three. In late 1958, Anna followed her father and brothers to Chicago, IL. She worked at Hart Shafner and Marx before and after her marriage. Later, Anna devoted herself to raising her family and caring for her home. She loved to cook and bake her Greek specialties, and during the summer months, she enjoyed tending to her backyard filled with all types of daises, lilies, and roses. In her younger years, she enjoyed needlepoint. In the late 1980s, after Anna had raised her daughters, she returned to work side by side for twenty years with her husband in their fast-food restaurant on Clark and Chicago Avenue. Anna often said after she and her husband retired how much she missed and enjoyed working at the restaurant. She enjoyed talking to and meeting new people. Anna was a kind, generous, hardworking, and loving person. Anna will be missed forever by her family and all who knew and loved her.
