Dear Pa…
I remember when I first met you, I was so nervous going to meet Mike’s family, but you had me laughing from the minute I walked in the door, you had so many funny stories. I remember thinking when Mike and I left… wow what a cool dad he has. You were really just so cool, and I couldn’t wait to come over again.
Just a week later my car battery went dead, Mike and I were in Walgreens on Fullerton and Cicero, Mike said let’s call your dad, I was afraid to call him; I didn’t want to get in trouble. So Mike called you, you came in the pouring freezing rain to help me… I was surprised. I asked Mike “was your dad mad?” he said “huh?” and laughed… I thought… “Really?” What an amazing impression you made, you were so real, you genuinely cared for people, even people you didn’t really know.
Your family traditions were admirable. All the holidays and picnics... Fourth of July and Halloween were my favorites… you were “the life of the party” and I will never forget any of those times. ( I could write a book about those great memories)
You were such an incredible Grandpa… you spent quality time with each of our children. Taking Tony to the movies every week, made tapes of Tony and Asia singing, taking Tony to Virginia for vacation to see Anthony, I didn’t find out until way later that you actually let Tony drive your car... I think he was 13. When my mother was sick, you watched Tina everyday… taking her to Portage Park later Stephanie came too you made them tapes of Folk songs, I still know them by heart, we played that tape everyday. It was such a hard time for me because my mother was so sick and you gave me the opportunity to be with my mom everyday. I never ever forgot that.
The memories of playing 13-Down… I loved playing that game, although you and Mike would take forever to play your hand… which is probably why one of you always won. How about when we would come over and watch documentary marathon, or Honeymooners, remember “5 o’clock?” Musicals, I never watched a musical as a kid, remember I grew up with 5 brothers, we watched good guy/bad guy movies, I didn’t know what I was missing until I watched “The Sound of Music”. The first time I saw that movie I was with Mike and all 3 of our kids, Rose put it on for them and I was glued to the TV, everyone was surprised it was the first time I ever watched it.
Pa, who could ever forget you????? I know your ok; I hear your amazing one-of-a kind laugh.
Thanks for the memories.
I’ll see you again, but until time comes, I’ll keep you close to my heart and my ears open if you want to talk to me, I’ll hear you.
I will always love you Pa,
Love Carly

Linda your in my thoughts the passing of a parent is heart breaking. Nobody has ever measured, not even the poets, how much the heart can hold. Your father is now in God's hands and feels no more pain or sorrow. God Bless you and your family you are in my prayers.
