Anthony "Tony" Sladek Jr., age 77, late of Shorewood, formerly of Villa Park, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007. Born in Chicago. Retired from GTE in 1992 after 45 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, and a devoted Cubs fan. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ethel, nee Kovar; his children, Mary (George) Mees, Denise (Al) Fernandez, Gary (Dorice) Sladek, Daryl (Stacey) Sladek and David (Christina Munguia) Sladek; grandchildren, Kimberly, Shannon and Jennifer Mees, Danielle and Zach Sladek, Kaitlyn and Brenda Sladek and Alexis Munguia; three brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, nee Gausselin; parents, Anthony M. Sr. and Irma, nee Krug Sladek; and one sister. Funeral Services for Anthony Sladek, Jr. will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brookforest Avenue (Rt. 59), Shorewood for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Sladek is a part of all the great memories I have of Princeton.
In looking back, I now see how much he loved his kids.
