Arnold Stein Obituary

Arnold B. Stein, 73, beloved husband of Gail (nee Roland), father of Jennifer (Judd) Goodman and the late Jeffrey, grandfather of Charlie and Jordan, and brother of Rick (Tova) lost his long and valiant fight to multiple myeloma. He was the son of the late Ozzie and Lillian Stein. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and Northwestern Law School. He practiced with Schiller, Ducanto and Fleck for 40 years and was consistently voted as one of the Top 10 Divorce Attorneys in Chicago. He was well respected by his peers, clients, and judges alike. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandsons score a soccer goal or get a hit. Private funeral services will be held in Florida. Donations to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or Dana Farber would be appreciated.

Arnie was an amazing mentor who took me under his wing when I first started practicing family law. We worked side-by-side for over 20 years. No matter how difficult the case, Arnie was always up for the challenge. He was hardworking, a gentleman and dedicated to the practice of family law. Arnie made going to the office a pleasure every day. He will be missed but his legacy will go on.

Thinking of you and sending our condolences. So sorry to hear about Arnie and trust he is at peace.

I think about the fun times we had - always playing together when we were kids. He was a good friend and helped me out a lot when I first got to Champaign.

We remember the great times Arnie and Gail had with me and my Gail. Always enjoyed talking with Arnie and am sorry we lost touch in our older years.

We will miss him.

May his memory be for a blessing.

I am so very sorry to learn of Arnie´s passing. Knew him from from baseball in Lincolnwood in junior high through high school at Niles West and as a fraternity brother of ZBT in Champaign. Arnie was a year ahead of me but we enjoyed little league and playing together through high school. He was always a soft spoken and gentle man, a genuinely nice person who was supportive and complimentary of all around him. It was not surprising to learn he enjoyed a great reputation as a lawyer in an area that helped people resolve their differences. From the early years, I remember his Dad, who like most of the parents, never missed a game we played and was always supportive of the coaching and our classmates regardless of the outcomes and how we played.

Arnie will be greatly missed.
