Carl E. Staples

Staples, Carl Edward 78, of Metropolis, IL, died February 28, 2013 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Carl spent his younger years in Mt. Vernon, IL. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. After his discharge he moved to Aurora, IL area, where he lived for 50 years prior to moving to Metropolis. Survivors include his one daughter, Donna Mason (David) of Metropolis and four sons, Carl M. Staples (Shirley) of Montgomery, IL, Steven Staples (Michele) of Crystal Lake, IL, James Staples (Kristine) of Wheaton, IL and Jerald Staples of Schaumburg, IL; his grandchildren, Joshua Staples (Ginger) of Jonesboro, IL, David Mason (Kelsey), Bodhi Mason, Matthew Mason, all of Metropolis, IL, Brittney Wise (John) of Yorkville, IL, Amanda Staples of El Paso, TX, Alex Staples of Montgomery, IL, Ty Staples, Taylor Staples of Crystal Lake, IL, Jack Staples and Haley Tenute of Wheaton, IL. Carl has one great-grandchild, Hayden Staples of Jonesboro, IL. Other survivors include eight sisters and four brothers, Virginia Fern Jines of Mt. Vernon, IL, Dorothy Dale of Big Rock, IL, Linda McClintock (Larry) of Rock Falls, IL, Shirley Colville of Rock Falls, IL, Peggy Wittenben (Mike) of Love Lady, TX, Vicky Simmons of Rock Falls, IL, Debra J. Hallen (Herb) of Dover, IL, Diana Cox (Brad) of Rock Falls, IL., Virgil W. Staples (Janice) of Mt. Vernon, IL, Larry Staples and Philip Staples, both of Rock Falls, IL and Ricky J. Staples. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Virginia Staples and two brothers, LeRoy Staples and John Staples. A memorial service will be held at the Healy Chapel, 370 W. Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL., Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. The family welcomes all friends.
