Catherine "Kay" Blakely, 92, loving wife of Jerry Blakely for 54 years; vigilant mother and "Queen" to her five children; and delighted witness to the spirited lives of four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, passed away on Dec. 16, bound for greater adventures. To family and friends familiar with her beautiful smile and regal presence, it's a great and dignified spirit gone, but we will treasure her legacy of dignity, wit and easy laughter for the rest of our lives. Kay is survived by her two sons: Paul (Debra) Blakely, and Kevin (Sherry) Blakely and two daughters: Mary Kay Blakely and Regina Blakely and her partner Jennifer; grandchildren: Ryan (Terri) and Darren Koepp, Timothy and Shannon Blakely; and great-grandchildren, Bella, Tucker and Mira Koepp. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Francis Blakely. In memory of Kay, the elegant Queen of our proud clan, conqueror of the challenging crossword, whisperer of the sweetest good nights, a Catholic Mass will be held in celebration of her life at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Immaculate Conception Church, 7211 W. Talcott Ave. in Chicago. Internment Maryhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Center.

The Blakely Family,
It is with sadness I read of the passing of your mother - she was one of those wonderful forces within the parish that we all remembered warmly.
God bless - Terry Hirsch on behalf of the Hirsch Family

“The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are listed in the St. Jerome’s version of the bible, (Isaiah, 11.2) . They are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. The truly wise person does not only know things of God but experiences and lives them. By acquiring wisdom through experience, the other gifts follow. “
Gina, your Mom was very wise, and thus the other virtues followed, and passed on to all of you. May you know the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and may you rest easy knowing that your Mom continues to bless you each day, and guide your spirit in this life.

Gina and family, just heard the news and read your loving obituary of her. What a wonderful family she has and how proud she must be of you all. My thoughts are with you all.

To all the Blakely clan,
It was with sadness that I learned of the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful woman, and it was a real pleasure to "meet" her again when I got her address. It was almost like having my own mother to be my cheering section...hope you don't mind the appropriation! I can't help but think that Kay will be rather busy in her first years in heaven, talking to all her loved ones (including Dot Mulhern!)
Kevin and Katie join me in sending our condolences. Remember "If there is sorrow in our parting, think what joy in our reunion".
In the spirit of the Resurrection,
Mary Ann
