Charles Liebman Obituary
Charles Liebman was born in the tobacco-farming country of Ellington, Connecticut. Following service in the US Army Air Corps and graduation from Northwestern University in English Literature, he wed Mary Bruhnke of Park Ridge IL and began to work for a manufacturer of electrical components in Chicago. With experience in electromagnetics and communications, he became the President and CEO of Coilcraft, Inc., and continued as a director following his retirement. He and Mary raised four children in Bull Valley, Illinois where he was a vigorous presence in regional politics, philanthropy, and golf. Global in business and local in philanthropy, he was instrumental in establishing The Community Foundation for McHenry County, and The Liebman Science Center of McHenry County College. In a century of family, business, and civic life, he upheld the liberal values of human solidarity, equality, and curiosity. He touched and bettered the lives of many people. No service has been planned. In lieu of flowers, remember him at The Community Foundation for McHenry County.

I will always be an admirer of Charles. He loved his neighbors and his community. He opened educational doors for the less privileged. Charles and Mary brought art, industry and history to McHenry County. They were generous with their time and resources. The Liebmans have left an ongoing legacy that continues to bless our community.

Chuck and Mary were great friends of my father and mother as well as my wife and I. He and my Dad were instrumental in establishing Bull Valley as a village. I think the four of them Chuck, Mary, Betty Hale and Ham Hale are all together again.

Charles hired me on at Coilcraft. Said we'd know whether we liked each other within a few weeks. Said His door would always be open. It was for the full 15 years I worked with/for Him.
