I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the Smithe family.
Uncle Charlie was a dear, sweet man! As one of the receptionists at Walter E. Smithe Furniture I enjoyed so much his response when I would answer the phone, "Thank you for calling Walter E. Smithe Furniture, this is Carol, how may I direct your call", and in his soft voice he would say, "This must be sweet Carol".
He was so much fun to talk with and I loved to hear his jokes! He'd say, "do you have time for a quick one?" Sometimes I'd get it, and then again sometimes I didn't. Didn't matter though, we'd both just laugh.
Every time he called he made my day, even if it was for only a minute, to transfer his call to whichever brother would be available. And if not one of them, to Phyllis. I will truly miss his calls.
I have lots of wonderful, warm and lasting memories of Uncle
Charlie. I can just see him dancing in heaven. We were all very blessed to have him in our lives!

I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Charlies passing upon returning to work on Wednesday morning. Even though he was blessed with a wonderful long life, it still saddend me. I will always have fond memories of him and all of his jokes and sharp as a tack personality. I've listened to them for the last 15 years and will miss them. I admired him very much. My condolences to all who loved him.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Smithe family.
I was honored to know "Uncle Charlie" as a patient, and quickly as our friend.
He was a kind man, and always had a great story or joke to share.
We will miss him at Resurrection Medical Center.
He got to know my family over the years, and I got to know a little of Charlies.
He has a wonderful, supportive family who loved him very much. We were honored to be one of his guests at the Ridgemoor Country Club Christmas dinner.
I'm sorry we are unable to attend any of the services. We left for a family vacation on Wednesday morning.
I learned of his passing first thing on Monday morning.
We lost a great friend, but we have great memories of "Uncle Charlie."
Fondly,
Bernie and Dave Bailie
