My dear Marianthe,

I just learned today that Chris passed away in April and am so sorry that I did not know of your loss at that time. I would have very much wanted to see you and pay my respects to Chris. He was a part of my life from the time I was very young and was a good friend to all the members of my family as you were also. I will remember him with great affection and respect and will always be grateful to both of you for your kindness toward me and for introducing me to George.
I don't know whether you are now living in Chicago, but please do call me if you are. In the meantime, I send you my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy. I will try to pay my respects to Chris whenever I go to Elmwood to visit George.

With love,
Chrysanthe
