Daniel Dolan Obituary
Dan was co-founder of Dolan & Murphy Real Estate since 1965.
Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Friday, February 28, 2020 at 9:15am to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:00am. Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., 630-631-5500. Please visit our website at www.daleidenmortuary.com where you may leave condolences for Dan's family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dan's memory to the Daniel D. Dolan Family Endowment Fund, c/o Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, 37 S. River St., Aurora, IL 60506.

Dan was someone my family loved a lot. He's a big loss to us. He made us all happy.

I did not know Dan but we share a military history. The cap he wears in his obit indicates he served on the USS Knapp DD653. I served on the USS Benham DD796. Both ships were built during WW2 and Mothballed afterwards. Both were recalled in 1951 for Korea and stationed in Newport RI. We were probably on the same cruises.

Both ships were active during WW2 and mothballed at the conclusion of that conflict. Both were recalled for the Korean affair in 1951 and assigned to the Atlantic fleet at New.port RI. We probably hit the same ports in 1952

Condolences on your passing. He was a good guy, raised a great family and contributed to this journey of life for allot of people. He made our hometown, and it's people, a much better place. This gent was a true role model for family and all Aurorans.

I send my prayers to all of the Dolan family. I will pray for the repose of the soul of Dan.The last time I saw Dan was at the funeral and burial of my parents ( Mike and Sue Dolan) We will have a Mass offered in in our Convent in Washington State. He was a good and joyful man.

Sending this message for my husband, Roger Runninger, who was a classmate of Dan's at E. Aurora High School. I am Marilyn, Roger's wife. I will miss seeing him here this winter during Illinois' cold weather. He was a great friend and will be missed. I enjoyed his visits and his enthusiasm about everything and of course, that big smile. I will have a Mass said at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Tempe, Arizona.

Danny served his country with honor and distinction aboard the U. S Navy destroyer USS Knapp DD-53 during the Korean War. It was a great adventure for teenagers who had never seen an ocean let alone sail on one. We sailed the Caribbean, North Atlantic, Mediterranean, South Pacific, traversed the Panama and Suez canals, and dropped anchor in 23 different countries. Danny's
responsibility was keeping all of our internal communications systems on line. Danny was always
dependable, and he always had your back. He was a great friend and shipmate. We will keep
Danny and all the family in our Prayers.
