David Deitz, 56, devoted husband of Kathleen nee Van Dyke; loving father of Paige; beloved son of Raymond and Norma nee Simunjak; dearest brother of Brian and Gary; fond uncle of Carter, Jack and Lillian; dear brother in law of Margot, Cornelius,III "Trey" (Jeanne) and the late Keith Van Dyke. David was an archivist with the Archdiocese of Chicago, avid comic collector and the force was strong with him. Visitation Monday, March 5, 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. till time of services at 9:15 a.m. at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home to Epiphany Roman Catholic Church, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment at a later date. David and I worked together at the Archives building for over 16 years. He will be missed. David was always ready to help everyone. He talked lovingly about his daughter and his wife, his parents, and brothers. He was a true gentleman. David was a credit to the Archdiocese of Chicago and a friend to everyone.

My heart has broken. David, my cousin and I spent many summers when I was a little kid watching star wars and reading comics. He was a gentle soul and is already dearly missed. I know a part of him will always be with me and the rest if the family.
