David returned to his childhood home of Waukegan, IL where he started his General Dental Practice which would lead to enriching both his life, his community's and his profession for the next 47 years. He was involved in every aspect of organized dentistry and rose through the ranks of leadership in all the organizations of which he was a member. He served as President of: The Waukegan Dental Study Club, Lake County Dental Society, North Suburban Branch of The Chicago Dental Society, and most proudly The Chicago Dental Society. He was a member of the Illinois State Dental Society and the American Dental Association and served as a Delegate to the House of Delegates in each. He served as Chairman of the 2001 American Dental Association Annual Session. He was awarded Fellowship in the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, American Dental Society of Europe, and the Odontographic Society of Chicago. He also served for many years as a Dental Advisor to the Lake County Board of Health. As much as he loved his beloved profession of dentistry, he loved his family even more. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Jeanette. He is also mourned by the thousands of patients he treated over the span of his career. He was often quoted, "Treat your patients as your family and you will always sleep well at night". He was a man who slept very well. David was a cradle Episcopalian and life long, devoted member of The Church of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Gurnee, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 19 at The Annunciation of Our Lady Episcopal Church, Gurnee, IL, 5725 Stearns School Rd. Our family was with Dr. Fulton or(Dr. Dave) as my children called him, from the time he opened his practice. He was a very caring man and it was almost a pleasure to go the the dentist when he, Laura and his staff, were so friendly. As a dentist he was gentle and careful. He was missed when he retired but we hoped he was enjoying himself. So sorry that was not the case. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Laura and the family.

Laura, family and staff, we had the pleasure of having Doc Sr. as our dentist for many years prior to moving to AZ. Going to the dentist here is not the same, not even close. It never will be. Doc Sr. was so personable. And his work ethics were impeccable. We were always given a warm hello from Laura when we walked into the office. You both are fondly remembered.

Please accept our condolences on your loss.

Dear Laura and family,
Please accept my greatest sympathy. Words are hard to find to express this sadness and to comfort you. The first time I saw Dave was about 1957 flying his plane at the end of my street. Think we were about 12 & 15 - over the years he has been a kind and thoughtful friend and the BEST DENTIST!!
I am so sorry for your loss. With much sadness and regret,
Maxine

Always cheerful and always smiling. We will miss him deeply. Our prayers are with the Fulton family during this very difficult time. Dr. David is now on a trip to serenity for eternity.
