David Gerstein

David Morris Gerstein, 98, passed away on September 22. Born in Chicago, IL, he was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Golde (Shapiro) and brothers Samuel and Hyman. He is survived by a loving family consisting of fiancé Patricia (Patsy) Samuels, son Richard and daughters Elizabeth (Betsey) Sterenfeld and Gwynne Ivy (Gigi) Raff, daughter-in-law Mariela, sons-in-law Elliot and Allen, and six grand children Halee, Ethan, Olivia, Jacob, Sarah and Samuel.He served in the United States Army during WWII. He founded what became K and R Delivery around 1930.He served as president until his retirement. David was an active Rotarian. He was known for his passion on the mountains as a downhill skier, as well as on the golf course and tennis courts. An avid bridge player, Dad spent hours with his friends at the bridge club in his newly-adopted home of Aventura, FL.He was also known for using "YO YO" as his callsign to those he loved. The family will be holding a private memorial service. Remembrances in the form of donations may be made to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center or the David M. and Richard M. Gerstein Fund for Visionaries at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
