David Lowell Hokin, 54. Beloved husband of Julieta nee Dimapilis. Loving father of Joseph, Debra, Samuel and William. Cherished brother of Michael (Larisa Mironov) Hokin, Gary (Sheri) Hokin and the late Clifford Hokin. Amazing uncle of many. Devoted son of the late Ruth and the late Dr. Irving Hokin. Hard to believe that seven years have passed and David is still fresh in our minds. He touched so many lives in his short life. We still miss him, his sense of humor, his infectious smile, and his caring heart.

I am a distant cousin of David and his brothers. My father and is mom Ruth were 1st cousins. A few years ago my husband Joel and I came into Chicago for a visit. The Torah portion on that weekend happened to be the same one used for Joel's for mitzvah, so we went to shul. It was bashert that we went to the shul where the Hokins were members. Even more basheret--it was the bat mitzvvah of his daughter. Our Canadian relatives were present. To my delight and surprise, Joel & I were invited to the party at his house that night.
David was in the process of creating a family tree--he was so proud. Unfortunately, I never got a copy of that family tree. Then when I learned of David's death (just last night!) I was stunned and saddened.

It is now one year since David left us and we still mourn his loss. His memories,chats,phone calls,emails and occasional gatherings are still very much alive in our mind.We miss him terribly and hope for him to continue R.I.P.
