Dear Dave, Me and so many of our Norridge friends, yours and mine, wish we did not loose touch with you before your passing. I guess when one is young, you feel like you will live forever, and can catch up with other things, and other friends, later. I am sorry I waited too long. I miss you, and your grandfather. We played some wonderful chess games together, but most sweet, was his and your grandmother's hospitality.

To the entire Teichman family, friends and relatives. I send my sincere and profound condolences, as I found out today about Dave from Irene. Dave and I spent 12 years together, 11 of those being married. We ended our marriage amicably and remained friends altough distant at that. I was very happy for Dave and Leslie when they met and married, and then the birth of their two daughters. I know that I could never comprehend the saddness everyone is experiencing, and only wish and hope that it will lessen over time. I know that Dave would want everyone to remember him with his smile and good will, and to move on with their lives. We were all truly blessed to have him in our lives.

Lesley and the girls,

I am so sorry for your loss. Dave was a great guy. I worked with him at Bob Chinn's. He was always wonderful to work with. One of the good guys. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Leslie and the girls,
My sister Lorna and I worked with David at Bob Chinn's Crab House. There was a time when one of our coworkers, Hope, was moving to California and we were planning a large party in my back yard. David helped plan the menu, shredded pork, and make the event a success. David had to work that day but was there is spirit. Thank you again, David.
David was always generous with compliments, food advice and good humor. I was lucky enough to visit him at his restaurant once. He was very attentive and welcoming. I was happy to hear how well things were going for him and his family. He will be missed but the ripple of his good intentions will live on in our lives for a long time.

I meet your husband at the school bus stop when it used to stop at Rush Ct. My granddaughter Alana rode the bus with Gillian. He once told my daughter, Tanya, about a red wine they had at the restaurant... Cigarzin. That is now one of my favorite wines! I may have only met him once or twice but he will be forever remembered whenever I drink that wine! Peace be with you and your family during this time of sorrow.

Dear Lesley,

I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am. I worked with Dave at Crawdaddy Bayou. I loved Dave. I remember him talking about you all the time. I remember when your first daughter was born. I lived and breathed for Dave's gumbo and to this day I talk about it to anyone that will listen. Dave was a fabulous friend. My prayers and thoughts are with your family.

Dear Leslie I was shocked and saddened by the news. I had alot of good times and memories with dave from high school up to now. We both bought jeeps , remote control cars at he same time. Played cards and always enjoyed the food he made us. I will never forget the rides in his 70 cougar and his brand new datsun 280 z. I will never forgot when he drove my AMC javlin for a ride with me in it, I never thought that car would go that fast. Cindy and I will never forget your wedding and recieption. (menu on the chocalate was a Dave thing) I was so greatful to have Dave and his family in my life and I wish i could have made more time to do things with him. if there is anything you need please write or call, life long friend Dan Dieterich

To all David's family,

I am speechless, as probably anybody else.

I met David years ago in the restaurant business. from customer became a great friend that I always considered one of the best chef I ever met.
What a loss!!!!!
Everytime I was at his restaurant him and his partner made me feel the most welcome in the universe.

Everytime he had a question on EVOO or italian food he used to call me and I was so honored to answer to all his questions.

His cuisine will always reign supreme.

Well I bet he is already cooking.

David, continua a cucinare. ADDIO

I'm not quite sure how to express my shock and sadness at this sudden loss, but I will say that Chef Dave was truly a special guy, as evidenced by the many people he so clearly touched and inspired. I had the pleasure of working for him at Bluegrass, and am lucky to have known him and eaten (a lot) of his delicious food. My sincere and profound condolences to his family, he will be seriously missed.

Dear Lesley,

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved husband David. Dave and I first met while working at Crawdaddy Bayou. More recently, we have worked together a number of times for events at Bluegrass. Dave was a good man, with a good spirit... and he always wore a smile to go along with his forever posative attitude. Dave will be missed as a wonderful man, and as a wonderful chef as well.

You and your family are in our thoughts and Prayers ~

It was a GREAT to know Chef Dave for the past 30 years. I will miss his food, I will miss his enthusiasm, I will miss staying up most of the night playing poker with him and trying to take his money (although that was many years ago.)

But mostly I will miss a great person.

We are all here for only a short time. Chef Dave did a lot in that time and will be missed.

To Lesley, Gillian, and Arianna,
I was lucky enough to have known Dave as a close family friend and as Executive Chef in two restaurants I have worked in. As a chef he inspired respect, loyalty, and created a sense of family among his employees that I have never experienced anywhere else. He absolutely led by example-he was so patient and kind. As a member of my extended family I know that John, Jeanne, Michael, Amy and I feel the loss deeply. My heart and all my love go out to you.

I am greatly blessed to have known Dave for the 3 years I have been at Bluegrass. He was the kind of person you want to be around. He was full of life and energy. Always looking to better himself and help others to learn. He was so excited about his love of the culinary arts and was eager to teach you a new recipe. And if the recipe called for pork all the better! My prayers go out to you Leslie Gillian & Arianna.

Wow. What can I say? The world is definitely with a huge void without the infectious good mood, smile and joking around with Chef David Teichman. I knew David since the days at Bob Chinn's. I never knew an eternal optimist like Chef David. I never saw him lose his temper. I never saw him in a bad mood. I never saw him or heard him talking smack about anybody. He was truly one of a kind. He treated me and my entire family like royalty every time we went to Bluegrass, and I loved seeing him waltzing the dining room, running food, looking SO PROUD of all of his delicious creations!

He would light up like a Christmas tree when talking about any of his favorite subjects/passions---his two daughters, his wife, his "family" (Bluegrass), his love for cooking, hunting, gaming, or just sending a funny e-mail. Truly an inspiration about being a better person. I feel like my life is better for having known Chef David. What an incredible man, father, husband, Chef and friend to a LOT of people. David, you will be dearly missed by everybody that knew you. God Bless you and your family.

Lesley, and the girls,
I am blessed and honored to have been a true friend of David. Whether it was at Bluegrass or the 2 of us out for lunch, I cherished the times we spent together. He was a great contributer on many levels in my life as well as others around him. He has forever changed my life and made me a better man. My heart is heavy with thoughts of him and prayers, support for you in this time of grief. I am glad we were able to share so many wonderful moments together. I will have a place in my heart for Chef, Dad, Husband and friend David.

February 17, 2009

I had the pleasure of working with Dave for the last 2 years. He was the blueprint of what a successful chef should strive to be. He never lost his cool no matter how stressfull the situation, and on the rare occasion that he did, he was quick to apologize and make it right. In conjuction with being a great chef, he was even more of an oustanding person. He always gave his full attention to every person he talked to, and listened whole heartedly to every word you had to say. He was a friend, my boss, and a big brother to me. I wouldn't exchange to grief we are all experiencing, to having not known him. He was a person people are blessed to meet only once in a lifetime. My prayers are with his family and friends. Dave made cooking pork a competitive sport.
