I worked for Paul and then his son David in the 2960´s
David was not only brilliant but honorable
I up front told him I was a dissident communist and that the FBI would come to get me fired and when they came he showed them the door
Years later he said you were correct on the Vietnam war Astounding for a boss absolutely sparkling intellect

There are no words to describe what an amazing man David was. I had the pleasure of knowing David For just over 40 years.
He TRULY made the MFRI companies one big family. I will always remember Mr. Unger.
My sincere condolences to all of David's family and friends. But take heart, that David's memory will live on through SO, SO MANY people.
God's Blessing to all...

We are so very sorry to hear of David's passing. No matter the circumstances or lengthy health issues, it is still hard to say good-bye to someone you love. We are so glad we had the opportunity to get to know David and his wife, Mickey through our daughter-in-law, Miriam. They were among the first of her large, large family to welcome us to the fold when she and our son, Ted, married. David and Mickey were both very quick to introduce us to everyone else and make sure we didn't feel lost in the crowd! What very genuine, loving friends they were to us! How special that just last week we heard all about the Hanukkah party at David's house and received a picture of our Hannah with David's Phoebe....which brought back so many happy memories. May God bless David and all of the Unger family and give you strength in this time of sorrow. We send love and prayers, Kathy and Barry Nissly

David, you were the kindest, gentlest and most wonderful man I've ever known, and the greatest employer a person could ever hope to have. I will never forget how you affected and changed my life!

Our deepest sympathy to the family. David (and Maxine) have been our next door neighbors since 1993, and their absence will forever be felt.
The last time, I sat next to David at his birthday celebration, he suggested that he wanted to know more about his neighbors. While the opportunity was limited, the heartfelt request will always be appreciated. May he Rest In Peace and quickly reunite with Maxine.
With love, David and Barb Shimberg

Sending love and sympathies to the entire extended Unger family. "Uncle" David was always such an important and beloved person in my parent's lives. I'm fortunate he shared so many special mitzvahs in my lifetime as well. His love for Mickey was always such an example of a cherished love and partnership. You will all be in our hearts and prayers as you mourn the loss of David.
Lovingly,
Sue (Schwartz) and Craig Derene

My wife, Fanchon, joins me in conveying our condolences to family and friends on David's passing. I first met him as his banker maybe 30 years ago and after a short while we became friends. He was a renaissance man--brilliant, sensitive, caring, charitable, family man, a true partner to his beloved Maxine. David left a truly impressive and favorable imprint on everyone he met. This is a big loss for all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sadly. Bruce and Fanchon Simons
