DONALD KIRSH Obituary

Donald P. Kirsh, 78, of Wheeling. Visitation for Donald will be held Monday, Oct. 5 from 3 until 9 p.m. at the G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines. Donald will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Addolorata Villa, 555 McHenry Rd., Wheeling. Born Sept. 15, 1931 in Chicago to the late Bernice, nee Ustaitis, and Stanley Kirsh, he passed away Friday, Oct. 2 in Wheeling. Don earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and, after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, also earned his Master of Business Administration from IIT. He married Therese "Terry" Doranski on July 6, 1963 and lived in Des Plaines for 42 years, raising five children. Donald was employed by UOP in Des Plaines for 35 years as a chemical engineer/cost estimator. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and golfer, belonging to the UOP fishing club and UOP golf league. Don was also a member of the UOP Twenty-Five Year Club. Don is survived by his wife, Terry, nee Doranski, of Wheeling; five children, Mary (Stephen) Angeliu of Buffalo Grove, Paula (Chris) Anderson of Charlotte, NC, John (Nancy) Kirsh of Rochester Hills, MI, Peter (Cynthia) Kirsh of Buffalo Grove, Christina (Terence) Dennelly of Oakdale, NY; grandchildren, Tim, Kevin, and Brian Angeliu, Kelly Anderson, Justin and Andrew Kirsh, Tom, Katy, Annie, and Susie Kirsh, Tess, Peter, and James Dennelly. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude for the caring staff at Addolorata Villa. Please omit flowers. Masses are appreciated. Dear Kirsh Family,
I am the Tech Director for BGHS, and Tom Kirsh is one of my best and most responsible students. I am sorry,but I never met Don Kirsh, the patriarch of this family, but I would like you all to know how proud he would be of his grandson, Tom. Tom obviously comes from a great family, and I hope your pain of this day is eventually replaced with the joy of rememberance of a wonderful life. To the Family of Donald Kirsh - I was saddened to read of his passing since I recently shared the hospital room with him at NW Commnity Hospital. I could tell he was in much pain but was always cooperative with the nurses and doctors. It seemed he had a full life and a large and loving family. My deepest sympathy to you all. You were indeed fortunate to have shared so much.
