Dear Lester and family, I would like to extend to you my most heartfelt sympathies on the passing of Doris. I only knew Doris in high school but I had been impressed with her keen mind and warm ways. Since then I have enjoyed many hearing delightful things about her.
Lester, I wish I could give you a big hug --- not that it would change anything, but I know how much you are hurting. I send you my love, sympathy and prayers. I'm glad you have the children and their families nearby ... you'll all need each other. I hope all the years of love and happy memories will be a comfort to you. Dear Mr. Hagan,Donna, Bob,Timmy, Ruth, Jill, John, and all those darling grankids,
We hardly can find the right words to express how deeply sorry we all are. We loved Doris so much. She was amazing and special. She always made us feel so welcome. She was so fun, and always made us laugh. I loved cutting her hair because she always had so many stories for me. I felt like I was part of the family. She was just like that...she had a way of making everyone feel like they were her best friend. I am so lucky to have had her a part of my life and to be able to have visited with her at least every 5 weeks for those hair cuts. The haircuts that I will miss forever! She was not just my best friend's mom, she was also my friend.
So, Donna, I am also so lucky to have met you , because you are just like your mom. Fun, and giving and you also have that special gift of making people feel so welcome when they are with you. With out you, I wouldn't have met your mom. And I thank God for it all.
The world will miss her, as she touched all of our lives.
With a broken heart, she will always be with us and in our prayers,Sincerely,
Krista , Eddie, Haley, Karlie, Joey and Nico...and Buddy and Ellie who she never forgot to throw a bone to.

To the entire Hagan family.

I remember Doris as the calming influence dispite the antics of us kids on the Foster Street block during the '70's. Doris would remain calm. I admired that about Doris. It's been a long time since I've seen Doris, but that's how I will remember her. Calm. Praying for all of your healing with the loss of Doris.

Dear Les and family,
We spend some "reunion party times" at your lake home with your brother Jim's class. I will never forget Doris' warmth and hospitality.
She was a genuine, jewel of a woman. I feel in my heart the pain you and your family are feeling.
Stay strong.
Thoughts and prayers are with you,
Sophie Pontikis

JIMMY HAGAN

March 21, 2008

WHO WAS DORIS HAGAN?

To Les, Doris was a loving wife and life long friend. Les and Doris shared their lives together as husband and wife for almost 50 years. They shared times of laughter; times of sorrow but more than anything else they shared their love for each other and for their three wonderful children and eight grandchildren.

Doris always had a smile in her face and a twinkle in her eye. She never called me Jim, James or Bubba but instead she always called me Jimmy. I think it was her way of saying I don’t care who you are, or what you are doing, or what you have done, you will always be Jimmy to me. By calling me Jimmy I think she was saying you are still just a little boy. I didn’t mind being called Jimmy and will always remember being Doris’s little Jimmy.

Doris had no hobbies. She didn’t belong to clubs. She wasn’t active in church. But, she was active and had a rich full life – her life was a success. She dedicated herself to her family. The fruits of her labor are reflected in her wonderful children and grandchildren.

We don’t know why Doris was taken from us so suddenly. And we don’t know why bad things happen to good people – but they do. So now all we can do is be thankful for the time that we had to share with Doris and as we go on we will always remember her. She was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Now we, as a family, must go on to live, love and toil and knowing that our lives are better from having known Doris.

The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.
Now is the only time you own.
Live, love, toil with a will.
Place no faith in time.
For the clock may soon be still.

Lester, Tim, Ruth, Donna, Bob, Jill and John,
My deepest sympathies to each of you.
Doris was a big part of the memories for our family growing up....trips to the beach, birthday parties, sleepovers in the tree house, shopping tips from 'discount Doris', the 4th of July party, the pencil test, etc. Doris had a huge heart and a never ending smile. May the wonderful memories you have keep her near in your heart, always.
