So sorry to hear of Mr.Planerts passing.So many great memories of Mr. Planert and the Ice Skating School. Was a great place for kids to go.Ed had the patience of a Saint!I was there for almost ten years.Even worked there cleaning and making ice.A great man has been lost.

I recently ran across some photos from some of the ice shows my siblings and I were in as youngsters in the early 70s at the ice rink and decided to look the place up. What wonderful memories we have of Ed and our many days at the rink. We grew up there! Very grateful!

The grandchildren of George Planert, Sr., Cheryl, Neil, Kim and Tod are very sorry for your loss. Although we were quite small at the time, we remember fond stories of Eddie Planert and his ice skating rink. Another shining star has been added to the heavens. Go in peace, dear family.

Dear Bernadette and Yvonne, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. He was such a dedicated and hard working man. He really had a positive impact on all the kids who took ice skating lessons from him. I wish I could go back and have one more lesson with him.
Ironically, I just came across (4/4/2016) all my ice skating outfits from the Spring Show.
Your dad will always be young at heart to me.

Mr. Planert was my ice skating teacher when I was a little girl. He made my childhood super special. So grateful to have had him in our lives, Janet and the Sutherland family.

Marie, and family I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Ed. I know all of your children, when my children were young. Ron enjoyed his hockey lessons after hours from Larry and John L, and at one point Bernadette was his girlfriend!! We all enjoyed each and everyone as well as Ed, who Ron emulated!
The ice shows, and Family nights and Fun Fares will always be with us. With losing Ed, it is the end of an era in the skating world.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of your loss. I have very fond memories of my time at the Glen Ellyn Ice Rink learning to skate as an adult and then teaching the evening classes for Ed. He was a great mentor to me.
