Emmy Samuelson Obituary

Emmy Marie Samuelson, nee Oberg, age 90, formerly of Chicago. Emmy passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 8, 1923 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the youngest daughter of the late Anna and Rudolph Oberg. At the age of three, Emmy was adopted by her late maternal aunt Elvira and uncle Carl Nystrom, whom she loved and cared for as her parents. She was the beloved wife of her high school sweetheart, the late Harry Samuelson. Emmy is survived by her adoring daughter, Barbara Bresnahan and greatly loved son-in-law Gerald Bresnahan, and cherished grandson Ryan; dear sister of Helen Oberg and the late Vera (Thor) Peterson; fond aunt of Beverly (John) Catch and Donna Gargiulo. Emmy also leaves her much loved companion and care giver Justyna Lenair. According to Emmy's wishes services will be private followed by Cremation. Entombment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elmwood, IL, where she will be reunited with her husband. In Emmy's honor donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.Alz.org.
