Florian Palka, age 83, of Chicago, went home to God on April 10, 2009; WW II U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. Beloved husband of Constance, nee Ruffino for 40 years; dear father of Laurel (Frank) Gentile and Gayle (Wayne) Witwicki; loving grandfather of Frankie (fiancé, Jessica
Galante) Gentile, Clara (Peter) Kopsian,
Jeffrey Witwicki and Stephanie Witwicki; great-grandfather of Carson, Zachary and Nataleigh; fond brother of Thaddeus
"Corky" (Lillian) and the late John (late
Angeline), Frank (Julia), Tony, Helen, Mary (late William) Desecki, Eleanor "Lola" (late Raymond) Cygan, Edward (late Helen) and Walter "Larry" (Estelle); also survived by many nieces and nephews. Longtime usher at St. Eugene Church. Visitation Tuesday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road (at Cumberland), Park Ridge. Funeral Wednesday 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Eugene Church. Mass 10 a.m. Entombment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Memorials to Alzheimer's Association or Rainbow Hospice Ark preferred. this year, all of the "Merry Christmas
Dad" cards kept jumping out at me. This
is the first year in the last 50 yrs. that I didn't buy one for you. But you
know how I feel,Dad. You'll always be a part of our Christmases. I miss you & I'll love you forever.

CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN
We're wondering what Christmas in Heaven is like
As we grieve alone and pray,
longing for one who has gone before
To spend Christmas in Heaven today..
And so in our dreams we wander far
From the scenes and sounds of earth
‘Til we catch the strains of the Heavenly choir
As they sing of the Christ Child's birth. .
The Angels we envision there
As they join in the festive play
And there amid the throng is our Loved One
Spending Christmas in Heaven today..
There's joy in the faith that teaches
When our life's work is done
Of a place in Heaven awaiting
And the crown we worked for is won..
In our grief may we learn well the lesson
So to work and suffer and pray
As to merit the joys of our loved one
And to spend Christmas together some day.
