George J. Vlahos, age 82, born Vassara-Sparti, Greece, beloved husband of Marianthi, nee Laskaris; loving and devoted father of Stella (Dr. Peter) Petrovas, Niki (Dr. Garey) Potamianos and John (Elisabeth) Vlahos; loving grandfather ''Papou'' of Steven, Maria and Georgia Petrovas, Dennis Potamianos and George and Marianthi Vlahos; loving brother of the late Giannoula Galanis; fond Symbetheros of the Petrovas, Potamianos and Kamilis families; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews; and dear friend of many. Funeral Wednesday, August 14, 2002, 10 a.m. from Salerno's Galewood Chapels, 1857 N. Harlem Ave., Chicago, to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 601 S. Central Ave., for 11 a.m. service. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 4 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by Nicholas M. Pishos, Funeral Director, Ltd., 773-745-1333.

Although our paths have not crossed in many years, it is with fond memories I recall the wonderful moments we shared. A friend of Mr. Vlahos' nephew, I know how loved he was and how much he will be missed...by all who knew him. May the Lord grant him eternal peace and bring comfort to his family.
