With great sorrow I learned of the passing of Mrs Helena Pantazis. We shared a common birth place and a passion for the city of Volos and its history. She was a contributor in the discussions about Volos past in the fb page " ".
I will remember her lively personality and love for our homeland.
May she rest in peace.

In memory of our dear departed friend Lela Pantazis
It is extremely difficult to talk objectively about a person so dear, as Lela, without saying less than or more than you should.
Lela was a lady with a great heart and soul. A lady with highly valued characteristics deeply appreciated by all who knew her: Good mother, hospitable, generous, ambitious, always smiling and cheerful with a taste for the beautiful and the arts. She loved the modest, elegant dress code, the art of painting and above all perfection.
She loved with passion good cooking, the Grecian cuisine coupled with good company of friends and relatives. There were numerous family dinners at Lela's and John's house during all of our years that we lived in Chicago, with abundant pleasant memories of our families get-togethers.
Lela was a person of high values, responsibly true to her beliefs and commitments and equally respectful to the beliefs and commitments of others. She loved with passion her place of birth Volos and the nearby beautiful mount Pelio in Central Greece (Magnesia), which both Lela and John visited frequently.
Lela in her short life span was an eternal source of strength, happiness and joy to all who knew her, family, friends and acquaintances with her always positive attitude and spirit. These are exceptional qualities that she will always be remembered and cherished.
Eternal will be the memory of Lela and will always be sought by everyone who happened to know her: friends, acquaintances and particularly the members of her family, her children, grandchildren and her beloved John.
In closing, I would like to communicate to Lela with a few lines below that life cannot possibly end here:
You lived with love and honor throughout your life
with a brilliance that still gives light
and, straight from your infinite and imperishable contribution
The dense of darkness has taken you away
but the Angels sing your spirit and soul
and thus again you live in Heaven with God.
