Jaime Galiano Obituary

Dr. Jaime Alberto Galiano found eternal rest on November 24, 2021 at the age of 79. He was at peace when he passed away with his loving family at his side. Unwavering in his faith, he is now at home with his Creator. Jaime was the proud patriarch of a large and close-knit family. He was a loving and devoted husband of the late Hilda Blanca Marina Páramo Proaño de Galiano; adoring father of Yara J. (Carlos) Vega, Dr. Maribel P. (the late Eric) Galiano-Goll, Rommy D. Galiano, Dr. Robert D. (Susan) Galiano, Evelyn T. (John) Galiano-Putnam, Vladimir (Laura) Galiano, Cynthia M. (Mark Ziehr) Galiano, and Leslie K. (J. Javier) Galiano-Sanchez; doting grandfather of: Christopher & Katherine Vega; Dylan, Kelsey, & Nicholas Goll, Inès & Olivia Galiano; Geneviève, Lucien, & Roman Putnam; Emily, Noelle, & Chloe Galiano; Madelaine & Gabrielle Ziehr; and Sophia Galiano-Sanchez; cherished brother of Ramiro (Grinauria) and Luis; dear uncle, cousin, relative and friend to many across the United States and South America. Dr. Galiano was born in Quito, Ecuador to the late Pedro Rafael Galiano Vasquez and the late Micaela Hortencia Gallo de Galiano. A brilliant physician who practiced medicine in the Chicagoland area for nearly five decades, he tirelessly served thousands of patients at numerous hospitals and at his private practices. Dr. Galiano's warm presence, sharp mind, and keen sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. His passion for medicine, love of music, and fine athleticism made him a joy to be around in any company. With his kind demeanor and generous spirit, he truly embodied what it meant to be a scholar and a gentleman. Across continents and decades, he earned the respect and admiration of everyone he met. With his passing, he has left an incredible legacy that will live on through those who were fortunate enough to know him.
