James Edward Folliard, died from complications of COVID 19 on July 31st. He was 98 and grew up on Chicago's south side. Jim was proud of his service in WW II from 1942-1945 assigned to the Military Police and eventually G2 (Intelligence and Security.) He later joined his local American Legion and served as Post Commander. His career path led him to become a Local 134 electrician and he was certified as an Electronic Technician. In 1967, Jim and his wife Ann bought a house in Oak Lawn where they raised their 5 kids. This was Jim's dream and he lived it fully being a devoted husband and involved parent who was there for sports and projects and many fun adventures. Jim was predeceased by his wife Ann (Gansinger) and five siblings Katherine (Russell Rasmussen), Winifred (Rob Halligan), Veronica Folliard, Patrick (Elizabeth) Folliard, and Mary Eleanor (Raymond Scannell & Joseph Zunic.) He is survived by his children: Sharon Folliard (Lance Driskill), Jim (Laura) Folliard, Julie Folliard, Mike Folliard (Christina Klintworth), Sandy Folliard, and his seven grandchildren. "Uncle Jimmy" is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews and their children. In lieu of flowers, Jim's legacy would be served by donations to The American Legion, a veteran's service organization www.legion.org. There will be a visitation at 9:30am until the time of a funeral mass to be held at 10:30am at St John Fisher Catholic Church, 10200 S Washtenaw, Chicago, IL 60655. Good morning sunshine- miss you Mr Folliard

Karen Zawadzki

October 18, 2022

I delivered meals on wheels to Mr. Folliard for the past two years. I had taken this past summer off due to childcare issues. I just started back up today and heard of his passing.
I want to share because I want his family to know how much of an impact Mr. Folliard had in my life. No matter how bad of a day I may have been having on a particular morning, he would always bring a smile to my face. It would take him 10 minutes to get to the door, but as soon as that door opened I was greeted with the biggest smile and a very loud "good morning sunshine!" Many times this interaction change the course of my day.
He will be missed.
