Jane Nyquist Obituary

Jane Wilhoite Nyquist, 88, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL after a three-year struggle with ovarian cancer. She was a resident of Fort Myers Beach, FL and formerly a 30-year resident of Hinsdale, IL where she raised her family of four with her late husband, Dr. Robert E. "Bob" Nyquist. Jane was born on April 6, 1929, the daughter of Mary Hammond and John Wilhoite and raised in Frankfort, KY with her older sister, Betty Ann and her twin sister Joyce. She attended Eastern Kentucky University where she met lifelong friends with whom she shared much joy. She passes on an independent spirit, a love of family and friends, and a no-nonsense approach to life with an abundance of laughter and wit. She loved spending time with family in Chicago, Kentucky, and Jacksonville and especially the many wonderful holidays in Florida. Her husband and twin sister Joyce both passed away ten years ago, and she is survived by her sister, Betty Ann (Don) Lancaster, four children; Rex Nyquist of Clarendon Hills, IL, Julie (Charlie) Haapala of Park Ridge, IL, Nancy (Ted) Powell of Jacksonville, FL and Robert E. "Bob" Nyquist, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; nine grandchildren; Taavi, Tim, Laura Jane, Teddy, Scott, Eric, Jack, Katie and Kevin; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private service will be held in Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257, or to a local Hospice of your choice.
