Jane Rueckl Obituary

Rueckl, Jane A.

Jane A. Rueckl, 61, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Jane was born on October 16, 1950 to Donald and Beatrice (Ropson) Rueckl.

There is no greater honor to any human being than to be considered a true inspiration of courage and strength to everyone whose lives they touch. That is a statement which truly epitomizes Jane. Her life has touched and impacted so many in so many different ways. From the classmates throughout her education years to fellow employees during her working career to those who touched her life during her time under hospice care. The family is overwhelmed with stories of ordinary and extraordinary (the late Dr. Tom Geocaris, Dr. Marc Anderson and Dr. David LeMoine) people whose lives were influenced so positively by simply knowing her.

Survivors include the love of her life, Mike Kocha; father, Don Rueckl; sisters, Barbara Rueckl; Ann (Tom) Conway; Amy (Scot) Madson; brother, Todd (Mary) Rueckl; nieces and nephews, Colleen (Tim) Gumm, Camille (Marshall Ogren) Conway, PJ (Carrie) Madson, Adam (Carrie) Madson, Maggie (Chris) Boland, Leslie (Luke Kabat) Madson, Karli Rueckl; great nieces and nephews; Aunt Bernice Libal and godfather, Joseph Queoff. Jane's extended family, Mary Kocha, Kathy Brotski, Bill and Bob Kocha; special friends, Larry Woulf, Caroline Colby, many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice; sister, Jennifer; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ella Ropson; paternal grandparents, George and Alice Rueckl, Sr.; godmother, Berdine Queoff; aunts and uncles, Maurice Libal, George Rueckl, Jr. and Mildred Rueckl Dhuey; Milton and Pearl Rueckl.

Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Sunday, September 30, 2012 after 11:00 AM. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 2:00 PM, led by Jane's cousin, Deacon Don Ropson. Visitation will continue for Jane on Monday, October 1, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1412 Main St., Luxemburg from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Interment in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to Jane's family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.

A thank you to all of the wonderful friends and healthcare professionals who throughout Jane's life have tended to her physical needs with love. Also, special thank you to the caregivers who have helped Jane remain in her home, especially Santos, Cathy, Valerie and Mary.

Mike, I was saddened to hear of Jane's death. I have missed her at 9 o'clock mass and St. Willy's. I thought she had been ill when you were taking communion to her but just recently figured out you no longer were delivering communion so I asked Rita the choir director where she had been and she told the choir she had passed away. Had I known I would of attended her service. I feel blessed to have known Jane she was truly an inspiration to all. So missed by her St. Willy's family at 9 a.m. mass. May you be blessed with so many cherished memories. Debbie Hartwell (Choir member)

Knowing Janie was like knowing a Saint on this earth, Now she is up in heaven w/o her handicap of her condition. On earth, she set an example to all of us. Always happy and up-beat, with the best smile and laugh, she was one of God's gifts to all who knew her.
Janie was my classmate at St. Mary's & LC High and I felt blessed to have known her.
Prayers to her Family and friends,
Love,
Pat (Patsy Dorner) Gissel.

Janie...what an amazing lady with the heart of a giant. Miss Barbara, my heart is sad for you and your family. It has been said that death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal. You are in my prayers

Jane was a year behind me in high school. What I remember most about Jane was her wonderful smile and contagious laugh. She never seemed to let her physical challenges get in the way of living her life to the fullest. She lived her life with such dignity and grace. She was one of those rare people who left a wonderfully pleasant lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be missed.

Jane was truly an inspiration. As neighbors growing up in Luxemburg, then later taking some classes together at UWGB and after college working on committees with her, her courage and wit never ceased to amaze me. "To know her was to love her" could have been coined by anyone who had the great fortune of being a part of her life. My condolences.

A privilege to know you. Worked with Jane so many times, on a number of stories regarding the disabled. This tiny, bundle of energy was THE advocate on this issue. She was such a joy to be around and I am deeply saddened by her passing. God bless you Jane!

To Jane; Family and Friends,
Jane was an inspirational person, fun, and accomplished woman. She was amazing woman, even to those who were aquainted on the fringes of her life. My 86 y/o Aunt Rita and my 40 y/o son, David, called me to let me know of her death. It is obvious to me, that both of them knew of our genuine friendship 30 years ago. May she rest in everlasting peace and joy.

Janie was so blessed to have Mike and the Rueckl family in her life, as you were blessed to have her in yours. Much can be said of her courage, kindness, and tenacity. When Janie hugged you, you stayed hugged. So much intense love could fill those little arms as she held on in that special way that she had. As if to say, “No, stop. This is not just a gesture. I really love you. You are important to me.” All that sincere love, and that sassy sense of humor to spice it up! I feel so blessed to have had her as my friend.
