Janice Yafchak Obituary

Janice Marie Carroccio Yafchak was born June 18, 1941 in Chicago, IL. After a long and courageous battle with brain cancer she passed peacefully at her Wauconda home Sunday afternoon, February 7, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Robert Yafchak, her two sisters, Karen DeSmedt and JoAnn Miller and their husbands; her cousin Michelle Emory and Auntie Lye Randazzo; her three children, Cindy Hunt, Carrie Johannesson, Robert Yafchak and their spouses; her eight grandchildren and their spouses; and one great grand daughter. Janice lived her life filled with love for others. She had a servant's heart, always willing to give of her time, her compassion and her delicious cooking; most especially her "gravy". Her family shares many wonderful memories of holidays spent in her home, filled with good food, fun and laughter. Jan had a strong love for the Lord, a disarming directness, and an amazing sense of humor that drew everyone to her - whether family, friends or strangers. She was the definition of selflessness - always putting her family, friends and animals before herself. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, and will be missed more than words can describe. She has left a joyous and enduring impact on all of us that knew and loved her. A small private service for immediate family will be held in Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to intouch.org
