Jerry L. Martin

Jerry L. Martin, age 82, beloved partner of the late Bob Eagan; loving brother of Linda Lockner; dear uncle of Allison Mott, Eric Struble and Suzanne Blunt. Jerry was also survived by many dear friends, Joe Rocheleau and Steve Lewis, Kathy Boho and Sue Orlowski, Andre Valk, Rafael Osorio, Kitty Finn, Sue and Mark Gorecki, Mike Rocheleau, Jack Miller, David Ninemire, Eagan family, and his friends and neighbors at 1500 Oak.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Rexford and Frances (Johnson) Martin, and by his furry companions Molly, Melbourne, and Maf.

Born in Elmira NY, June 1, 1939. Jerry served in the US Army for 2 years, stationed in Georgia. Following his discharge from the Army, Jerry moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern University Court Reporters School. Following graduation Jerry worked for Cook County Courts as a court reporter for over 30 years, and upon his retirement from Cook County Circuit Court Second District, Skokie, he was one of the last court reporters to use pen and paper ("pen writer"). He spent his retirement years traveling the world with his partner of 32 years, Bob Eagan, as well as meeting new friends. Jerry enjoyed the theater, movies, music and dining out at nice restaurants with big menus.

Joe would like to thank Doctors Schoneburg, Fisher, and Harris of Northshore University Health System, the treating physicians and nurses at Northshore Hospital Evanston, the staff of Northshore Hospice, the staff and therapists of HRS Medical, and the staff and caregivers of Home Instead, notably Elaine Brown, an exceptional caregiver to Jerry when he needed care the most.
