hey dude,
i just learned about this. you were always a nice kid to me, even when you didn't need to be. I always appreciated that. I still have the stuff you wrote in my yearbook, and I think about that advice often. I also stole your manner of smiling and stage-diving. I wish I had stuck around to know you better, kid.

Please forgive the very late entry, Jody's passing was a shock to me today that I apparently missed over two years ago. Jody was a fast friend of mine, beginning in the summer of 2002. I'm sure he was a quickly formed friendship to many, he was an extremely kind, fun, and likable guy. Jody crewed with me for Shoreline Sightseeing, even though he had a captain's license- he agreed to work for the company as a deckhand until they had a spot for him. Jody worked harder than most crew members even as deckhand, and took his job extremely seriously. I was an actor when I met Jody, and slowly found out about his singing career that he kept a secret from most people at work. It was hard to believe that such a mild mannered and self effacing person had an extremely energetic and wild stage persona, a double identity that I found greatly admirable. That energy did find it's way into the fun times we had on the boats and off, he was someone you always wanted in the room or pilot house with you. Jody was a great friend, he spent hours as an extra in the first short film that I made, he was always up for anything. I'll never forget some of the stories he shared with me, funny and self deprecating, he was honest to the core. It's hard to take that I'll never see him again, but I'll think of him whenever I see the open water, as the tides were in his veins.
