Chicagoland Cremation OptionsRichard Foreman Karger, 79, of Northfield, Illinois, passed away on March 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 8, 1946, at Michael Reese Hospital on the South Side of Chicago, and was raised in Glencoe. Richard attended New Trier High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. He went on to graduate from Colorado College with a degree in political science and later earned his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Richard began his career at Brown Brothers Harriman in New York, where he worked until 1975. He then returned to Chicago to join the family business, Rothschild Securities, which he soon led and helped guide successfully for the next five decades.
He was actively involved in his community, serving on the board of Chicago Child Care Society, and was a longtime member of the University Club of Chicago and Lake Shore Country Club. For the past 25 years, he cherished splitting his time between Chicago and Hawaii.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Christine; his children, Nicole and Rob; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter, Ava, and Harper.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at Lake Shore Country Club on June 25 at 3:00pm
