JOHN CURLEY Obituary

John Clifford "Cliff" Curley, husband of Helen Curley, nee Auth, died in Palos Hills, IL, on Oct. 3 at age 89 after a brief illness. A 1937 graduate of Tilden Tech High School, Chicago, Curley started as a draftsman at the Western Electric Hawthorne Plant in Chicago and rose to Senior Electrical Engineer AT&T Baltimore, MD. During his career he received numerous monetary and administrative awards for refining the process of work in his department. Known for his attention to detail and accountability, he would stand up and "count heads" at the start of each workday. His team loved his attention. In the early part of WWII, he was stationed in NYC where he worked on the first development of integrating radar to automatic weapon fire. He retired on May 2, 1984. Thompson's Restaurants was Cliff's first employer out of High School and due to his love of cooking he often said, "If I did not work for Western, I would have made a career in the restaurant business." Helen and Cliff raised five children who survive him, daughter Debra Ann died in infancy. Cliff will rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park, beside his beloved wife of 61 years. Helen and Cliff's children include Darlen, nee Curley, and Hilary "Mac" Mecaskey of Palos Hills, IL, J. Clifford Curley and Cindy, Curley, nee Ward of Bradenton, FL, Joseph J. Curley and Phyllis, nee Luznicky, of Cortez, FL, Dorothy, nee Curley and John C. Tecklenburg II of Amity, PA and Karen Curley and Wade Susie of Towson, MD. Funeral Friday Oct. 9, 2009 8:45 a.m. from Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium 7861 S. 88th Ave., (2mi. West of 79th and Harlem), Justice, IL to St. Patricia Church, 9050 S. 86th Ave., Hickory Hills, IL, for Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery Evergreen Park, IL.
