John Eckel Obituary

John Eckel, 79, of Evanston died peacefully on March 15, 2022 surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his sons Joshua (Catherine) of San Jose, California, and Jeremy (Amanda) of Portland, Oregon, and his sister Margaret Eckel Goertz (Robert). He was immensely proud of his sons and his grandson and granddaughter and their many accomplishments. His parents, August and Gertrude, preceded him in death. Raised in Chicago until he and his wife moved to Evanston, John graduated from Senn High School, Columbia University, Harvard Law School, and Northwestern's business school, eventually becoming a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery. After retiring, he furthered his love of photography through global travel to the far reaches of the world, accompanied by his wife and family members. Services will be private.
