John David Elliott

John David Elliott, 59, of Littleton, formerly of Chicago, passed away at 12:12 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. He was born on August 1, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Sidney W. and Florence A. (Harris) Elliott. He married Jill A. Davis (retired CPD) on August 23, 1969 at the Astoria United Methodist Church in Astoria, Illinois and she survives. Also surviving are three sons, David T. Elliott and wife Colleen of Chicago (CPD), Terry A. Elliott and wife Liana of Chicago Ridge and Joseph R. Elliott and Mandi of Chicago; 2 -1/2 grandchildren Ian Elliott and Morgan Elliott and a baby boy to be born soon; two brothers Daniel Elliott and wife Peggy of Collinsville and Dennis Elliott of Carpentersville; two sisters Nancy Thomas and husband Kent of Vermont and Sharon Dodd of Vermont and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Kenneth. A graduate of City Colleges of Chicago, he was a United States Navy Veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a patrolman for City Colleges for 28 years, retiring in 2000. Following his retirement he was Cheif of Police in Vermont. Mr. Elliott was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Rushville Moose Lodge 708 and the Vermont American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14 at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Father Richard Pricco officiating. Interment will follow in Vermont Cemetery with military rites by Vermont American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be given to the Schuyler County Ambulance and Rescue Squad.
