I worked at Nalco when it was still located in Oak Brook in the 1980's. During that time I worked with Mr. Groch since I was a secretary in his Compensation Department with Grace Pierce as my direct boss. At times, I filled in for Mr. Groch's secretary when she had to be away. He was always so nice and patient with me and understood the personal family problems I was going through at that time. And John and his wife attended my wedding and reception back in 1983; a wonderful memory seeing he and Betty in the church pew with some of my Nalco friends. He was a wonderful, giving and compassionate man whose family always came first. I will always remember him as a valuable boss and friend too. My belated wishes to the Groch family. Sincerely, Jan Simpson @[email protected]

Dear Bette and family,
We are saddened to learn of John's passing. Many fond memories of him and you those times when we were together at Sonja & Frank's. We shall miss his qick wit, unbending opinions, and the fun he had in teasing or in today's language,"busting," us. He loved his famiy dearly and took such pride in his children. Often a tough guy to please, but a heart as big as they come! We are glad he passed our way. Peaceful sleep my fellow Marine.
With our love to you all,
Bert & Karen

Mrs. Groch (Bette)
I regret I will be unable to attend the services for John. I am an old Nalco employee. While not having many contcts with John during my years at Nalco those that were made wer always warm and friendly: John always answered my questions.
After retirement John became a member of the small Nalco retireee group with a number of others--these luncheons were fun with John contributing most heavily to the conversations and fun.
As I will miss him I know you and your children's loss must be devastating. I sincerely hope time will cure your sorrow.
All I can add is, farwell John, you were a great guy.
With sympathy,
John Premo
