John George Maheras, Veteran WWII, U.S. Army, beloved husband of Frieda, nee Schmidt; loving father of Diane (Javad) Moltaji, Russell (Janet) Maheras, Joseph Maheras, Helen (James) Rarick and John Jr. (Jennifer) Maheras; proud grandfather of nine; dear brother of the late Angelo (the late Jane) Maheras and the late Helen Maheras; fond uncle of George Maheras, Cheryl (Ed) Marcyn and Lisa (Kevin) Monaghan. Family and friends will meet Wednesday morning at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 Dempster St. (at I-294 Tollway), Des Plaines, for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:15 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Donations to the Des Plaines Historical Society, 789 Pearson, Des Plaines, IL, 60016, would be appreciated. Arrangements by John G. I am really sorry for your loss... I know the pain all too well... Mr. Maheras always comes to mind when I think of childhood memories... I knew him as a nice man who was funny, yet serious. God be with him!
