John T. Markowski, age 80, Army Veteran having served with the Occupation Forces in Japan following WWII, beloved husband of Evy, nee Kinross; loving father of Tom, Larry (Debbie), Joyce (Craig) Hess, Barb (Donny) Roberts and

Robyn (Ken) Kilberger; proud grandfather of Lindsay, Jacky, Melanie, Jackie, Charlee, Morgan, Nikki, April, Dominic, Kendall and Emma; devoted great-grandfather of

Alyssa, Dylan, Jordyn and Alexis; fond brother of the late Betty Markowski and Marienne Humphries; dearest uncle of Vicki LeGrand and family and Gary (Barb) Humphries; "Papa John" and special friend who was loved by many. Memorial visitation Saturday, Aug. 9, 9 to 11 a.m. at Kings-wood United Methodist Church, 401 W. Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove, IL. Service 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to VITAS Hospice, 580 Waters Edge, Lombard, IL 60148; Christ United Methodist Church, 9009 W. Algonquin Rd., Algonquin, IL 60102; or American Cancer Society, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1200, Chicago, IL 60601 appreciated. Arrangements by Matz Funeral Home, Mt. Prospect.

It is said that at the end of our lives; we need not ask, "What have we accomplished but how have we loved?" This speaks of John Markowski for his true passion was his beloved wife, Evy and their FAMILY together.
Papa John, we will so miss your smile, infectious humor, and most of all.......your friendship.
As time goes by our tears will surely turn to smiles as we remember holidays, family dinners, golf outings and vacations together.
Rest in peace dearest friend for it was an honor to know and love you
