One of the greatest writers . . . ever. Eternal flame maestro, author of the novel "Transformations" (Chicago Review Press, Jan. 1, 1975). 5.0 out of 5 stars (Amazon): A novel about the history of literature . . . Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2018. . . ."Very erudite, brilliant. A genius wordsmith, layered and fascinating." Check back in 500 years, maybe he'll be universally discovered by then. True genius. (says his publisher, took me 8 seconds to sign him up))

I woke up this morning thinking about John 30 or 40 years after the fact, Googled, and found him here. Whaddyaknow, John! Transformations. Your book is right by my side. When you run into Lena Ray, say hi to her for me. Marlowe, too.

I worked with John at Light Quarterly and I saw how much he loved the magazine. He was a very talented writer who was very dedicated to his craft. My condolences to his family.
