Just read about Gerry's passing in The Miamian. Some great memories of Gerry from the Miami U days. I still remember sitting in the back of the classroom, "on the left," in David McClellan's political science course on American foreign policy. My condolences to Gerry's family and friends.

Gerry was like a friend I never expected. When he came to work with our company he was never timid, shy or at a loss of words. I came to be very good friends with this funny man, and so did my family and friends. The Rapparlies quickly dubbed him "The Hawk" because of his insane ability to swoop in on customers and win over their hearts. I have so many fond memories of Gerry and the laughs we shared. He came to several parties at my house and never did he fail to make new friends. Somehow he even managed to show up at bachelor parties unannounced. So sorry to hear of his passing. He is never forgotten in my mind and in my heart. Love you Hawk.

Katie and JoEllen - we met only once- at your Mother's wake. Now here we are so unexpectedly crossing paths again as we try to comprehend the loss of "Hawk" as he was so affectionately known at Paper Cargo. Many life long friendships were created there and although we fell out of touch, he never fell out of our thoughts and hearts. His quirky personality, brutal honesty, kindness and sense of humor were always a pleasure to be around. Like most of us at Paper Cargo, he didn't fit into any mold, and we all wore that proudly (maybe Hawk a little more so!) I think he can look back on his life with no regrets knowing he lived it well.
He spoke of his two sisters often - always with great love.
Our sincerest sympathy,
Richard Temmerman

Gerry was in my advisory class in the morning at NTE. We would laugh the whole time! I would watch Gerry play soccer, and he would watch me play basketball. We would see each other when we were in the stands watching each other. The great thing is we were laughing at all the dirty stuff we did in the games. A great man has left this world and will be missed by all!

Just received the word. I'm so sorry. I haven't seen Gerry in many years but have many great childhood memories, playing "bloody murder" in the front yard, kick the can... how we survived the Jarts set, I don't know.
RIP

All you need to do is say his name and all remember him. Now he's watching out for the rest of us. It's been since High School but he always had a smile on his face and THAT is how I will remember him.

I remember Gerry very well as Gerry was down tbe street on Pine.
He was in our high school days a very good golfer and we would tee it up at Skokie Playfield often. Gerry was also and foremost a good friendnz, and highly reliable in this regard.

JoEllen and Katie--The 860 Pine Street Carneys send you sincere condolences and share in the fondest memories of Gerry. Memories of chasing each other on bicycles around the block, ghost in the graveyard on summer nights and snowball fights across the street will keep Gerry ever present for all of us.

I was Gerry's roommate freshman year at Miami along with Larry McHale. The three of us packed into a tiny room, the atmosphere was often tempestuous but oh what a year it was. Gerry was larger than life and his antics unforgettable. We had a ball. We hadn't been in touch since then up to just a couple of years ago when we had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours on the phone catching up. It was remarkable, like entering a wormhole back to 1976. Awesome! RIP Beke. My deepest sympathy and condolence. E.L.

Katie and family and JoEllen, Wish I could be with you all today as you celebrate a life well lived. I haven't seen Gerry for years but when I saw the picture of him skiing it clearly reminded me of his spirit and love of life - just like all of the Konradts.
I know you will all miss him dearly.
Thinking of you.

Katie and JoEllen,
Needless to say, thinking of you both during this very sad challenge .Have so many wonderful memories of our great family times together in Door County. The special "cousin good times" we're certainly based on the tradition of the Brownings and McGiverns .
Aunt Toz,Aunt Betty, Aunt Virgina, Uncle William and Uncle Red had a cousin bond that showed all of us the tradition . Uncle Julie used to mention that he relished in joining the fun....
And so it was that Gerry was such a fun cousin at party time...
I am especially thankful we have those memories .... One on 18 putting at the Alpine when he dropped a fourteen foot putt to come out the winner over Dad, Uncle Julie, and Uncle Bob !!!!!
Rest in Peace, Gerry .... We love you ! Cousin Sal
Rest in Peace my friend. Tailgating with friends before an Iowa- NIU football game. We are the reason they changed the tailgating rules at Soldier Fi

We all will miss Gerry so much just like we miss Aunt Tozie and Uncle Julie. All the Konradts added the fun to the family gatherings. Thanks for always being so generous and kind to Beverly and me. Gerry will always be in our hearts and prayers. Love, Barbara

JoEllen and Katie,
I know that you don't know me, but I was a classmate of Gerry's at Sacred Heart. I was one of many girls who had a "crush" on him back in like 3rd or 4th grade. In fact, I'm sure probably every girl in our class had a crush on him at some point or another. Although I didn't really know Gerry very well, I left Sacred Heart after 5th grade, I can tell you that I know what you are going through and I wanted to convey my condolences. This past January, my 18 year old daughter passed away so I can empathize with you the heartache, pain and sorrow that you are now experiencing. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Gerry and your family. He was a classmate from my youth and we are all in this together, to help and support each other. Draw strength from each other as you struggle through this difficult time. Remember all the good things about your brother and all the wonderful moments you had together. Be well.

Gerry was one of the most humorous people I've ever met. All the memories of the crazy times at Miami come flooding back. We talked a few times in recent years and he was always trying to get me to Chi-town for a visit. I regret not having made that trip and let that be a lesson to us all to seize each day. My deepest symapthy to you all. RIP Beke. T-Bone

RIP my friend. It's through tears that I recall the crazy fun times with our Paper Cargo 'family'. We sure did get into some trouble! Though I haven't seen you in a few years it's often I smile as I think of you.....miss you already and can't imagine the pain and grief your family is experiencing. Love and Peace

Dear Kate and Family of Gerry,
If you met Gerry, you never forgot Gerry. Kate, do you remember the "ugly legs" contest we had during the Europe trip in 1978? I can still see Gerry sitting in the train station, hat by his side, his shades on and people dropping coins in his hat?
Oh LORD, please take care of Gerry, he had a heart of gold and lives in the memories of many.

The memories have been pouring in since I heard the sad news of Beke's death. The follies of Freshman year – the crazy adventures in Europe (getting “special” mail from Oxford and heading for the grassy hill near the Alzette to enjoy, the “Rouge isn't shopping” faint that got us lodging at the Fasching in Cologne, etc.) – the craziness of Senior year, when his arrival at our doorstep was never anticipated, but always led to a party. And finally, the last time I saw him except at my wedding – the infamous Konradt siblings stomping into the bar of the Club Méditerranée Copper Mountain with their ski boots on (taboo) screaming “Frank! We need a drink”…
My heart goes out to you, Katie, and the family – and as we all march toward our mortality – it is comforting to remember how people like Gerry impacted our lives for the better.

Katie and JoEllen,
As my mom would say, with Gerry, the proverbial mold was broken. It has been one of the greatest blessings for me to have been his friend. The memories are endless, from the days at Miami thru Cub games, road trips and shots at Seul's. He was just a walking, rocking good time. As difficult as the next few days will be, I'm sure we'll be laughing so much more than crying. We will all miss him so much. He was truly loved by so many.

I am so very sorry for your loss, Gerry will be sorely missed. He will always be one of the greatest people I had the opportunity to meet. He was an absolute joy to be around and infectiously good humored. I will never forget the joy of spending time with him all those years ago in Aspen.

My memories of you are of the lovely guy you were and the fun we had. The Bulls playoff at my place where we were all screaming. You could have gotten me evicted. Love you Babe, and proud to have known you. See you up there.

Thoughts and prayers to the Konradt family. Memories of Gerry will always put a smile on my face - i.e. freshman year at Miami when his free-spirited altheticism helped earn Team Wildberry a birth at the Wacky Olympics! RIP Gerry

My deepest sympathy to the Konradt family during this difficult time. Gerry was a very close friend during our college years at Miami U. He was constantly cracking me up with his witty and "over the top" remarks. Looking back I wish I made more of an effort to stay in touch. I will especially remember with fondness spending the summer together in empty Oxford during 1980 while we were both trying to catch up. Gerry, RIP my friend.
