Joseph B. ''Bernie'' Powers Sr., 63, of Buffalo Grove, loving husband and best friend of Judy Powers, nee Mason; beloved father of Jean (Jim) Denam, Kathie Elliott, Linda Purtell, Joseph Jr. (Cindy), Brian (Andrea), David and the late Roger Powers; devoted grandfather of Jim, David, Scott, John, Bobby, Carrie, Jenny, Erica, Brittany, Kyle and Jakob; fond brother of Marifran (Larry) Smith, David (Mona), Michael and the late John Powers; uncle and friend to many. Funeral prayers Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from Kolssak Funeral Home Ltd., 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (2 blocks south of Dundee), Wheeling, for a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Visitation Saturday 2 to 7 p.m. and Monday 4 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago, 1440 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607-9717 or Jewish Asthma Hospital, 1400 Jackson St., Denver, CO 80206 appreciated. For funeral info, 847-537-6600.
