Joseph Schwaba Obituary

Joe Schwaba, 77, of Upper St. Clair, PA died on February 14, 2023 after a long struggle with Multiple System Atrophy. Joe is survived by his wife Kathryn Rodgers Schwaba; their sons Kevin (Hana), Kyle, & Jack Schwaba, and Todd (Christine) Townsend; and their grandchildren Emma & Kira Schwaba and Tyson Joseph, Leila, Charlotte, & Isabelle Townsend.

Joe was raised in Chicago by his parents, the late Hon. Joseph Robert Schwaba & late Mary Christine ("Sis") Schwaba. After graduating from Notre Dame University in 1967, he entered the Marines and served as an Air Defense Control Officer. After returning from Vietnam, Joe earned his MBA from Northwestern University in 1972. Joe went on to a long career in investment & commercial banking, eventually serving as an expert witness in complex financial legal cases & as an arbitrator for FINRA.

Joe deeply loved his wife Kathy, was proud beyond description of his four boys, was amazed by his daughters-in-law, & delighted in his perfect grandchildren. He also loved his seven siblings, his nieces & nephews, golf, his dogs, Notre Dame football, the Chicago Cubs, Miller Lite, the NCAA basketball tournament, and vacations in Three Lakes, WI.

A memorial mass will be held on April 15 at 10:00 at Sts. Faith, Hope, & Charity Church in Winnetka, IL. In lieu of flowers, please pray for a Notre Dame winning season or donate to the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Joe's name.
