Joseph Simek was born on November 13, 1926 in Ogema to the late Josef and Vlasta (Hedlicka) Simek. He was a 1944 graduate of Westboro High School. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 while being stationed in Trieste, Italy. On August 29, 1947 in Chicago, Ill., he married Frances "Fran" L. They sponsored the Boy Scouts, bowling teams, baseball teams, curling teams and other groups in the Medford area. Pep was an avid hunter, fisherman and traveler. He enjoyed attending Packers games and boating. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Premeau-Schauss VFW Post No. 7817 of Westboro and Landau-Jensen American Legion Post No. 147 of Medford. In 2012, Pep was inducted into the Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame. As one of oldest nephews on Fran's side, my deepest condolences, love and prayers go out to all of the family.

The depth of their love and care was unmeasurable. They were so kind to my parents and thousands of others.

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:1-3

The world is a poorer place with the passing of Pep. His generosity was second to none and will be truly missed. He accomplished a lot in his life, but remained friends with all he met along the way. I will miss him. Sincere sympathies to his family and those close to him.
