Katherine Takó Obituary

Katherine Nagy Takó, age 84, passed away March 29. Born to Nagy Ferenc and Gábor Ilona in Budapest, Hungary. She studied two years at the Béla Bartók Music Conservatory, 5 years at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music resulting in a Master of Arts in Teaching of Choir Directors. She served as choir director for the 10th District Culture Center in Budapest as well as Hungarian Rail Road Choir. She married Laslo E. Takó in Budapest, Hungary in 1966. The following year she came to the US where she received her citizenship. Katherine went on to teach music for many years in Ill. One of her most notable accomplishments was owning Kodály School of Music in River Forest, Ill. Katherine is survived by her husband, Dr. Laslo E. Takó; daughters, Katherine (Daniel) Girard, Boston and Patricia (Allan) Krass; grandchildren, Zachary and Theodore Girard, Joephine and Genevieve Krass; great grandson, Caden Krass.
