I was a nurse at the VA and got to know him very well. I remember teaching him how to give shots. Something they do not teach doctors in medicine school! He was a wonderful doctor and always listened to what us nurses had to say!! RIP Doctor Ken!

Dr. Khuans was my Primary care physician and the best physician I had ever had. My appointments felt more like going to a barbershop than the doctors office. We would get to talking and share stories, he would walk me down to the nurses station and continue the conversation if I needed anything there. I could tell he cared about me as much as providing healthcare. His memory is a blessing.

Dr. Khuans was my primary at the V.A. He was a helpful person throughout my time going there. He returned to help the veterans at the V.A. after suffering a stroke.
I last saw him earlier this summer after training at NTC California and helped me out once more after injuring my knee.

OIF/OEF clinic won't be the same but I'm glad to have the opportunity to meet him.

After I retired from the army I didn´t know how much work it would be to return fully to home and family. The Jesse Brown VA has a OEF/OIF Returning Clinic. The lead physician was Dr. Ken Stephen Khuans, I didn´t know what to expect when I met him, he had a stroke and was in a wheel chair and so on, but this doctor´s power was his expertise in medicine and people. Two years after coming home he was part of me coming home. The Veteran´s Administration has quite a few angels that truly understand how to care for and help Service Members Heal and Come Home.

It hurt my heart as I sat in my Dr. Ken Stephen Khuans´ scheduled wellness physical check up. He wasn´t there, his door was closed, I thought he was still talking to the Member who was ahead of me. He´d call and check on me personally, and have his team call me to schedule appointments. As the nurse took my vitals, she said Dr Khuans had passed last month, and my heart sank. The new guy, is gonna have a hard time, his bedside manner is too young and techie, but maybe he´ll learn.

If you happen to know the Khuans´ family let them know that this this American Soldier was impacted by the the service of one of the greatest Clinicians I´ve ever met and been served by. See you later Dr. Khuans´!!

Dr. Khuans, was a great member of the medical staff at Lakeside VAMC, and Jesse Brown VAMC.

He had as his mission to provide quality care to the veterans that he saw. Plus his providing training and guidance to many doctors who did their early training in the VA.

He will be missed by those of us who worked at the VA, and the patient's he treated over the years.

Dr. Khuans was my primary care provider at Jessie Brown VA. He was always so welcoming, warm, and patriotic! We lost more than just an amazing physician. He did more for this country and veterans than he ever knew. Dr. Khuans epitomized resiliency and unending optimism. Rest well Dr. and know you accomplished so much.

Ken was an outstanding and compassionate physician, the best of the best. It was a privilege to know and work with him at Lakeside and Jessie Brown VA over these many years.
His passion for the care of his patients and his wise counsel to his colleagues added greatly to the success of our VA mission.

I am so saddened to hear of Ken's passing. He and his family lived next door to my parents for decades. I enjoyed immensely running into him in the hallway when I would visit. His brave spirit after the stroke was inspirational. As all the comments show, he was a kind soul much loved by friends, family and colleagues. My true condolences to his family.

Dr. K was the most patient and caring doctor I have never had. He was my first Dr when I left active duty and took care of me. I felt safe and knew I'd be taken care of with Dr. K. I am forever grateful to him for helping me transition to civilian life.

Dr. Khuans was a fantastic man. I've never had a doctor get to know me and make me feel so understood before him. He loved to tell me how similar I look to his son and then he would show me pictures and he was truly so happy. I will miss him. My condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

Dr. Khuans was a great doctor of mine. Always caring and accessible. Besides him doing his doctor thing making sure I had the correct medicine and appointments, I loved that he spent time to get to know me a little better, talking and sharing stories about vacations, family and day to day life. Me and his wife Collette share the same birthday which always came up around that time of year. I will miss him. My condolences to his family.

What a great man dr Ken khuans was. He left us a legacy of how humans should be. We worked together for over 25 years. In good times and bad he always rose above the crisis and drama.

I can´t imagine how many wonderful memories you have to comfort you at this time. He was a problem solver, attentive listener, kind, generous and caring with all people and will be greatly missed. I believe he will walk straight into heaven

An amazing advocate and Healthcare provider for each and everyone of the Veterans he treated. He helped so many of us Veterans and it is something we will be forever grateful for his time with us, as we attempt to do our best by him and look out for others as well.

As Doctor Khuans first secretary, I met him on the 11th floor working as Ward Secretary at the Veterans Administration Hospital. When he became the doctor for Outpatient, I joined his staff. A doctor after God´s heart who understood human imperfections. He cannot be replaced.

I worked with Dr. Khuans for the past few years after he was transferred to the clinic working with our returning combat vets. We would have chats about all his memorabilia in his office, his family, and his recovery after his stroke with his main goal to continue practicing medicine. His patients loved him as well as the staff who worked with him. I was incredibly saddened to hear of his passing and my prayers are with his family. He will surely be missed.

Dr. Khuans was a dear friend and co-worker whom I have known for 40 years from Lakeside and Jesse Brown VA. He was a "doctor's doctor". A kind, gentle and genuine soul. Always a smile and love caring for the Veterans. Dr. Khuans always said he would never retire and that they'd have to carry him out of there. He absolutely loved what he did and we loved him. Rest well Dr. Khuans, "Rest in Peace"
