It was always good to see Lawrence at daily Mass at Immaculate Conception and talk with him afterward. His love for his faith and passion when he spoke made an impression on me. He was a good friend.

Dear Extended Staunton Family,

How sad I was to hear of Lawrence's passing. I remember fondly the first time he came to my office for advisement on his first courses at Catholic Theological Union. His smile lit up my office. His excitement was a joy to behold. His admissions essay I still remember, because it was so creative in using construction as an analogy for his hoped-for theological education. He was such a happy student who drank in everything he studied. His thirst for knowledge and understanding was insatiable. May he enjoy divine illumination in the company of all the saints who we trust have welcomed his smiling zirish eyes and good cherr.

Dear Staunton Family,

More than shocked, I was extremely saddened by this news. Lawrence, ever enthusiastic, ever joyful, was nothing but a benefit to all of us at CTU. I recall his practical, caring, nature as he assisted with the admissions department and his desire to ensure that everything was done well. I will not forget his kindness. Please know that he shared his wonderful self with everyone he encountered and that your legacy as a family was evident in Lawrence. Thank you for sharing him with us.

My condolences to the Staunton family.
My brother and I also went to Immaculate Conception.
Larry was a good friend to my brother growing up.
He stuck by my brother despite his tremendous medical problems. They made a movie back in the day...one that I cherish, as my brother died at 22.
Here's to you, Larry....for the kindness to my brother and family that I never forgot! May you rest in peace.

Mrs.Staunton,Marcella and Mary Teresa,
My heart goes out to you in this very sad time that has been unexpectedly placed in your lives. Lawrence has touched so many people in his life. Since in our 20's when Marcella, Linda Riney P.and others and myself would go to the Irish dances. He was such a great guy.His smile, jokes, stories were the best and dancing too. Throughout our lives we would always run into each other, and try to catch up. One wintery snowy night a few years back he took me to one of his favorite churches, Marytown. Since that night I have frequently gone there to find peace and serenity and a quiet place to sit in Adoration. Lawrence has touched so many lives, he will be greatly missed. I'm so sorry for your loss. May God wrap his loving arms around each of you and may he send his angels to comfort you all in the days ahead and coming weeks. May Lawrence Rest In Peace and May the Perpetual Light shine upon him. I'll miss you Lawrence thank you for being in my life you've been there when I least expected you to show up out of the blue. God's peace be with you.
Love,
Your friend,
Margaret

I knew Larry many years ago and he was the sweetest, kindest person, who could also do a 'mean' two-step! We lost touch over the years but I'll always remember his happy disposition and smiling face. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. My deepest sympathy to his family. May he rest in God's loving care and be at peace.

We will miss Lawrence. He was a gentleman, he would always come to Registrar's office to greet us. Always in a good mood and joking even when he was not feeling well.

We will always remember you here at CTU.

I knew Lawrence from Catholic theological Union where had two classes together. He is as a lovely man with a generous heart who always supported the underdog. I know that Lawrence is now at peace and resting in Jesus's arms asking Jesus all his questions that he asked in class. May Lawrence know the love of God and his family feel the warmth from all his friends. Rest In Peace my friend. Sr Janet Lawrence

I was truly saddened to learn of Lawrence's untimely passing. He was a dear friend, talented co-worker & a person who lived his faith every day.

30 years later, I still know Lawrence is the reason that I am a Pioneer to this day.

The next time I am in Chicago, I'll definitely call on your family. God bless.

My heartfelt condolences to your family, I am so sorry. I met Lawrence at a CTU event about a year ago, and afterwards he was so kind to me. I was a new student at CTU, and he made me feel welcomed. We were in the same program, and he always went out of his way to say hi to me. He shared his stories and cared how I was doing. He found ways to connect people. He was kind and caring, and I'm saddened at his passing. May his soul rest in peace

Lawrence was kind and thoughtful with a wonderful sense of humor and frankness. He added so much to every setting blessed with his presence. This world will miss him but the next will rejoice in his arrival. CTU brought so many of us together to tend to each other and our ministries...the blessings of CTU live on in all of us as we remember and serve.

Lawrence, your life experience enhanced your sensitivity in such a positive way and helped the rest of us grow because of it. I am so glad our paths crossed-you were a treasure-rough around the edges but solid to the very core. You will missed at every Theological Reflection, forever. Jeannie Brunk

It was my pleasure to study with Lawrence at Chicago Theological Union, and I quickly learned what a special friend he is. How I enjoyed meeting and talking with him. He loved people, and wherever I had gone, or would go, he seemed to know some people there. I am one of the many who will miss him. God bless the family whom he loved so much.
