Leah Gutman, nee Grochovsky, age 92. Beloved wife of the late Arnold; cherished mother of Elana Gutmann and Joseph (Sheila); proud and loving Savta of Danny, Natassia, Brian, Mikey and Angela; dearest sister of the late Chaya and Alexander Grochovsky; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Leah was a Holocaust survivor. Chapel service today, Sunday, Jan. 8 2012, 2:45 p.m. at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights, IL. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, SW, Washington, DC, 20024, Illinois Holocaust Museum, 9003 Woods Dr., Skokie IL 60077 or N'AMAT USA, Orli Chapter, 847-675-7778 Funeral info., 847-255-3520.

I have been blessed to have Leah as my friend. She will always be in my heart and soul. She was very inspiring to everyone who knew her. Leah is a great example of strength and love of life.

January 11,2012 Each of us was enriched by having Leah in our lives.She enjoyed and she inspired so many of us at Triumvera and Laguna Woods. She will be long remembered as an example of making the most of life at every age and under any circumstance.

Leah was so good to my family, and especially to my mother and aunt over the last 20 years. She was a rock in many ways. And when I was a child, she was one of the first people who gave me confidence in myself. What a wonderful woman; hard to believe she is gone.

Leah was a strong role model for three little girls growing up in the 60's, when it truly was a "village" raising the youth in townhouse rows 5&6. I have many rich and wonderful memories of her strong presence and was blessed to reconnect with her, albeit briefly, later in her life. Amazing life, amazing woman!
