Lester Stanley Dickinson, Jr., 92, of Arlington Hts., loving husband and soulmate for 71 years to Doris V. Dickinson; loved dad to Nancy (Kim) Anding, Leslie (Richard) Marek, and Lester; beloved grandfather to Jennifer (Chris) Glowacki, Michael, Kelsey, Lester, Jr. (Sophia), Sara (Chris) Rolland, and Lauren (Zack); cherished great-grandfather to Christopher, Elyse and Alexandra; fond brother to Joan (Robert) Bennett and the late sister, Barbara (Sam) Trapp and Allen; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews Mr. Dickinson honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a licensed Professional Engineer who graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree. Lester's career spanned over 30 years with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation, Arcole Midwest Construction, and ending with the City of Chicago; where he served as Chief Construction Engineer in Public works and ended his career as Commissioner of Streets & Sanitation and Commissioner of Water. Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, from 9 am until the 10 am Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church, 831 North Arlington Hts. Rd., Arlington Hts., IL 60004.
