Lewis T. Steadman Jr.

Lewis T. Steadman, Jr., beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away on May 11, 2023 at the age of 66 after a decade-long battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Lew was born on June 21, 1956 in Evanston, Illinois, the second child of Alma (Bailey) and Lewis T. Steadman, Sr. He grew up in Lake Bluff, Illinois, before attending Northwestern University and eventually John Marshall Law School, where he met his wife of 40 years, Holly (Gottlieb), in their Federal Income Tax class. Theirs was easily the greatest union created by the Internal Revenue Code. Lew practiced as an intellectual property attorney for over 30 years, but practiced more vigorously at the golf course, where he was an accomplished amateur player. If he wasn't at Conway Farms on the weekend, it was because he was rooting for his favorite sports teams, the Northwestern Wildcats and the Chicago Bears, with his beloved dog Riley by his side. Lew is survived by his devoted wife Holly, sons Scott (Katie) and Ben (Bianca), sister Carol, brother Bob, brother-in-law Art Gottlieb (Elisa), grandchildren Liam and Henry, uncles Robert and Richard, and Aunt Calista. A celebration of Lew's life is being planned for later this year.
